Are you able to let go? This week was interesting as I had three conversations with three different people at different times where the conversation started with, ‘I wish I could let go of X.’ Each time the book, ‘Untethered Soul’ popped into my mind as I just finished reading it. Two separate people recommended that I read it and that’s usually a sign that I NEED to read it for some reason. 😊
As this is top of mind for me this week and I’ve had a few conversations in this space, I thought it would be great to share information on the topic. The concept in this book by Michael Singer is we need to ‘let go now or fall’. So, what on earth does that mean? Here are the steps I got out of that chapter in the book:
- Notice what’s coming up for you that has you wrapped around the axle.
- Ask yourself why you are struggling with it.
- Challenge yourself to let it pass or just roll with it immediately.
- Or, fall into the trap of chewing on X and letting the fear and resistance control you.
Yeah, I get it. Steps 1 – 3 aren’t so easy and so many of us get sucked into #4 of falling into the abyss. Here are some great tips on how to break that cycle and get better at stopping it from getting to that point.
The Unstoppable Power of Letting Go:
(1:40) After 12 years it was time to let go.
(3:28) That’s when the pain stage kicked in.
(4:06) I let go of the fear.
(7:14) Here are 5 ways to let go that work.
1. Stop taking things personally.
2. Don’t worry about what other people think.
3. Try not to be something you’re not.
4. Stop the need to be perfect.
5. Maybe release saying ‘not yet’!
HOW TO LET GO – RELEASING YOUR “OLD” STORY TO CREATE A BETTER ONE: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/mind-meaning/the-power-of-letting-go/
I love this tidbit from Tony Robbins about how to let go and move forward, ‘Embrace living in the moment, and accept that there are things you cannot control.’ Ok, that’s a doozy. If you’re like me, that hits me where it hurts! How much of our inability to let go is rooted in our need to control what’s happening? DOH! Busted. Maybe the key is not trying to control it in the first place. 😉
The Art Of Letting Go EP 48 (Reflection of Growth): https://player.fm/series/the-art-of-letting-go-podcast/the-art-of-letting-go-ep-48-reflection-of-growth
Letting go helps us grow. (2:36) Being vulnerable to help others be vulnerable. (3:54) I’m a lot more open with people. (5:30) It’s opened my mind up to see other people’s journeys.
Are you struggling with letting go with X? Does this challenge you to explore letting go and gaining freedom from what’s got you wrapped around the axle?
Let’s have a conversation about letting go, just you and me! You can schedule a time here. There is no cost. This is not a sales call masquerading as a strategy call. I just want to support you. The topic is up to you.
